DP - Week 1 - 10 Ways

I used a 35mm lens in order to show the context of the girl in rural Red Lion, PA.  The 35mm lens allowed me to get close to her, but still show a lot of scenery in the frame.  This helps the viewer to understand Ellie more by seeing more of her town.

I shot upward at my subject to give a strong hero type shot.  I got in close with a 35mm but was still able to get a full length in the frame, which was dramatic and revealing.  The background is out of focus and the subject stands out.

I used a 35mm lens to get all of my subject easily in the frame, while still being able to stand over her.  My point of view was to shoot down to give her a childlike sense of innocence and to help her as a child to appear smaller.
I used a 35mm to get the full context of the girl on the swing set.  The scene of the swing set is the dominant environment.  The viewer gets to see her entire swing set and see how she interacts with it.
I used a 135mm lens to shoot upward and tight.  This gives a dominant look.  The tight framing allows the viewer to see the girl's expression.  She is framed by the swing set bars, setting her apart as the dominant subject even more.
I shot this picture with a 135mm lens.  I was seated on the ground and shot slightly upward, making her look more dominant in the frame.  It is also close to eye level, which brings the viewer into connection with her eyes.  She is framed by the four sides of the swing set ladder.
I used a 135mm lens to get a tight shot of this girl on the swing set.  I have a point of view of shooting down at her, again showing innocence and a smaller size.  Her face is framed by the chains.
This is shot with a 135mm lens, allowing me to capture the detail of the girl's flower on her shirt.  I shot this at eye level, trying to bring the viewer into an emotional connection with the girl's flower and also the girl.
I used a 135mm lens to shoot a tight head shot of the girl at eye level.  I  used off camera flash to achieve rim light.  It is meant to give the viewer a unique and intimate perspective on this girl.

I used a 135mm lens to shoot a medium shot of this girl.  I used rim light and got the light burst in the frame.  The burst of light adds a unique star quality of light to the frame.  I shot slightly upward.
